RE: Mono County Sheriff’s Office Personnel pays final respects to fallen San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Detective
The bond and sense of family that the law enforcement and first responder community has for one another is unsurpassed. Every member of this community supports one another through the good days and the hard times.
On Tuesday, February 12, 2013, Detective Jeremiah Mackay of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department tragically lost his life in the line of duty during a shootout with fugitive ex-police officer Christopher Dorner. On Thursday, February 21, 2013, over 10,000 law enforcement and first responder personnel and civilians attended the memorial service for this fallen deputy.
Several members of the department proudly represented the Mono County Sheriff’s Office to honor and support the family of Detective Mackay and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
“Law enforcement memorial services are not easy to attend, nor should they be,” stated Lt. West. “It is a bittersweet experience – a mixture of sorrow and pride. The presence, demeanor, and professionalism of our department were a support to not only Detective Mackay’s family but to the men and women of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, and the brothers and sisters of our extended law enforcement family as a whole.”
