Sheriff-Coroner Ingrid Braun is the 25th Sheriff to serve the citizens and visitors of Mono County. She was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1967 and raised in La Crescenta, graduating from Crescenta Valley High School in 1985. Sheriff Braun attended the University of California, Berkeley, and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She began her law enforcement career with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in 1989. Sheriff Braun met her husband, Michael, also an LAPD Officer, in 1991, and they married in 1993.
Undersheriff Michael Moriarty was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and moved to Los Angeles to join the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in January 1981. He had a successful career at LAPD rising in the ranks from police officer to commander. He spent the majority of his career in the investigative function in assignments such as Gang Enforcement, Homicide, Street and Major Narcotics, Internal Affairs and Public Corruption.
Lieutenant Phil West came to the Mono County Sheriff's Office in 2002. He began his law enforcement career with the Bishop Police Department in 1990 after working in private industry beginning in 1977. Over the past years, he has worked a variety of assignments with both departments ranging from: K9 handler, Mounted Patrol Officer/Instructor, Special Entry Team member, Resident Mono County Deputy, Field Training Officer, Firearms Range Master/Instructor, Chemical Agent Instructor, Patrol Sergeant, and Assistant Chief Deputy Coroner.
