The Mono County Sheriff's Department Investigation Unit is staffed by two full-time investigators. These investigators are stationed in both the north and south sections of the county. Typically the investigators are assigned their case load by the geographical location of the crime itself. On occasion, the investigator can be assigned a case outside their normal area of coverage, depending on the individual case circumstances, the investigator's expertise, etc.
Our investigators handle any and all cases to conclusion. After their investigation is complete, the case would then be taken to the District Attorney's office for charges to be filed for criminal prosecution if necessary. The Mono County Sheriff's Department also utilizes various law enforcement or governmental agencies to assist with investigations as needed.
