RE:      Coroner Investigation into the suicide of a Coleville resident

On the afternoon of August, 6, 2013, at approximately 1:40pm, Mono County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call regarding a possible suicidal male, age, 33, walking on SR 108.

Mono County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol (CHP), responded to the areas of Hwy 395 and SR 108. Deputies were directed by a witness of the possible location of the male subject. Law enforcement personnel set up a perimeter in hopes to negotiate with the male subject, but also contain him to a geographical area for the safety of all involved. While trying to locate the subject, a single gunshot was heard by deputies. Law enforcement personnel ultimately located the subject. He was found to have suffered a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Mono County Sheriff’s Investigators are conducting an investigation into this incident.
